THE Quad Cities Marathon is pleased to announce its newest official charity partner, the Erika Kate Foundation. The mission of the Erika Kate Foundation is to help ease the emotional, spiritual and financial burdens borne by parents of children with life-threatening heart disease. The vision is to provide short-term assistance to families in the midst of medical crisis, working with social workers in pediatric heart centers nationwide to bridge the gap for those whose short-term needs exceed available resources. The goal at hand is the successful completion of a $500,000 fundraiser. The money will allow the foundation to hire staff and expand its capacity to serve the basic needs of cardiac families during a prolonged hospitalization due to their child's heart condition.
