Volunteer Info
THE Quad Cities Marathon is an all volunteer event. The race committee works year round to ensure that THE Quad Cities can play host to one of the best road races in the country. Thanks to the creativity, dedication, and hard work of these team leaders as well as the many volunteers they recruit, we continue to grow and succeed.
More than 1,400 volunteers are needed for this year's events that include
the Health and Fitness Expo, kids run and Pasta Dinner on Saturday, in addition
to the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 5 Person Marathon Relay, 5K Run
& Walk, and One Mile Walk on Sunday.
Why should I volunteer?
Your time benefits THE Quad Cities
Marathon runners, walkers and guests by providing help in a variety of
areas. More importantly, volunteers
provide the energy and enthusiasm to help encourage our runners to the finish
line! When you volunteer, you are also
supporting the Quad Cities Prostate Cancer Initiative and the Erika Kate
Foundation, the philanthropy programs that THE Quad Cities Marathon
supports. Plus, all volunteers receive a
cool t-shirt and the thanks and gratitude of the race committee and the running
community.
Who should volunteer?
One of our proudest accomplishments is
how many positive comments we receive from runners about how well the race is
organized and how friendly and helpful the volunteers are. If the following characteristics describe
you, we'd love to have you lend your time and talent to the Marathon:
- Patient, friendly and helpful attitude
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Enjoys working with and helping people
How do I volunteer?
You can send an email to volunteers@qcmarathon.org. If there is a specific skill you possess or a
specific role you'd like to fill, be sure to include the information in your
email. If you are going to volunteer, we
thank you, and ask you to familiarize yourself with this volunteer guide.
If I have a friend running the race, how can I volunteer and support my friend?
Your friend might be on the course for quite a while, so you can
volunteer to help pass the time. Many of
our shifts take place during the race.
